How to Install WordPress Theme Manually using FTP

One of the things, I like about wordpress, is the ability to install themes and Plugins quickly and easily.

As we all know, wordpress got specific pages, to upload themes and plugins.

Sometimes, these features don’t work, for many reasons, such as poor connection with your web server,  slow internet connection, or file is too big to upload using the wordpress upload interface.

And in this training I am going to show you a different way of installing wordpress themes.

I had an issue, where I downloaded a theme, and the theme zip file size was above 100MB, which is a very big file for a theme.

Most themes, are under 20 MB. so in this situation I still wanted to go and install that theme, but I have to do it not using a different method, not using the wordpress theme upload feature, but I had to go and install the wordpress theme manually using ftp.

For this training, you will need two additional pieces of software, that I think they are a must, and you should always have on your computer.

Filezilla: the free FTP solution, that allows you to transfer files from your computer to your web hosting account.

7-zip: is a file archiver with a high compression ratio. You can use it to combine multiple files under 1 file archive, with compression.

Follow the steps in the video below, and you should be able to unzip, upload, and activate your wordpress theme, and install it manually.

Let me know, what you think about this method by leaving me a comment below:
